The word natural infers purity, genesis of origin being in its original state. Let's be clear; unless something is in its original state it is not Natural as most think of the term. So let's talk about what that means as it applies to essential oils, fragrance oils, extracts, etc. Transparency is a core value and important when it comes to trust and safety. This is a top priority for our company so we dug in to find the answer. What we found after speaking with several Top industry Chemists who work in our field is there is not a definition that is recognized in our field. WHAT? We kept digging and this is best answered in this way. Natural in skincare, fragrance or food additives is the way a flower, botanical, fruit, etc. is processed. If a flower is steamed or pressed without chemicals then it can be described as natural.
Now, with that information we can make some great decisions about the ingredients we choose. That is great, except as a consumer you have to rely on your brand to be diligent in their choices. With all of this amazing knowledge let us move on to discuss SAFE synthetics.
There are actually SAFE synthetics (man made) ingredients that are so so very OK! What I am telling you is there are many Clean, safe ingredients that we hold in high regard and use in our formulations. There are many plants, essential oils and even food additives and chemicals that are toxic. There are many that are safe when used in the right way. It is our job (insert nerd hat) to figure this out for you! To make sure the ingredients we choose; either naturally derived or Safe synthetic, are non toxic, clean and nothing that will harm you, fur babies or marine life. BALANCE is used here at Yummy Life Naturals and in all Pepper Hill Naturals products. Just know we are here to chat about any questions you may have about ingredients and why we use them.
